Google Chrome OS
We’ve built a copy of Google Chromium that you can download try right now, for free. We suggest you try it out with VirtualBox or if you’re running Linux, on KVM
Build 999.999.32409.005613-a1
Getting Started
The ChromeOS Appliance is distributed in OVF format. This is a format that allows a virtual machine to work on different Virtual Machine platforms, such as KVM, VirtualBox, VMware and Parallels.
VirtualBox
To start up ChromeOS in VirtualBox, follow the instructions for importing an Appliance here. You may have to modify your appliance’s network settings depending on whether or not you’re using Wireless or your Wired connection.
KVM
To start up ChromeOS using KVM use the command line and run the following command:
kvm -M 512 -smp 1 -name ChromeOS -boot c -drive file=ide.vmdk, boot=on -parallel none -usb -k en-us -vga cirrus
Issues
No Network ConnectivityIf you’re running VirtualBox you may have to modify your Network Settings. This device is setup to be Bridged to the Wired Ethernet connection on your computer. If you only run Wifi, then you’ll have to turn off the Appliance, and edit the Network Settings and choose ‘Attached to’ -> Name: en1
How do I log In?There’s no traditional username/password with GoogleOS. You actually log in with your Google Account. So for example username@gmail.com / password.
